Created by Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn (or HZD to fans) was released on the PS4 in 2017, enjoying critical and popular acclaim thanks to its stunningly-realised open world and tight gameplay. You play as Aloy, a young hunter in a world full of deadly machines, as you explore a hostile land in search of clues to your past. The 2017 release was accompanied by The Frozen Wilds expansion in 2017 and a full-blown sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, which followed in 2022. The video game series has sold over 20 million copies since the 2017 release, with the franchise recently adding comic books to its roster, and a even a big budget TV series that's currently in development by Netflix.
